Timothy Alexander Guzman, Silent Crow News – Washington wants to bring democracy to the Venezuelan people because they are suffering at the hands of a brutal dictator who starves his own people. At least, that is what the mainstream-media (MSM) wants you to believe especially the Pro-Trump network, FOX News. Trump wrote on twitter that “the citizens of Venezuela have suffered for too long at the hands of the illegitimate Maduro regime” and appointed Juan Gerardo Guaido as Venezuela’s “Interim president” is a step towards a civil war between the Maduro government and the U.S. backed opposition. The U.S. Canada and several other puppet states in the European Union and in Latin America including Spain, France, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras (which was the last Latin American nation to be overthrown by the U.S.), Panama, Paraguay and Peru that support the opposition while Russia, China, Turkey, Syria, Iran, Bolivia, Cuba, Nicaragua support Maduro. US imposed sanctions from Bush to Obama and now Trump against Venezuela for more than a decade in combination with hyperinflation, currency devaluation, food shortages and government mismanagement plus a fall in oil prices has all contributed to Venezuela’s current political and economic crisis.
Trump with advise from people like John Bolton made a move that is surely unprecedented. Trump has elevated U.S. aggression towards Venezuela by appointing a President and bypassing the Venezuelan people who voted for Maduro which by all definitions is an undemocratic act in itself. Venezuelanalysis.com pointed out an important fact about the 2018 elections in Venezuela that the MSM ignores was that “the Council of Electoral Experts of Latin America (CEELA), comprised of former top electoral officials from throughout the region, said the election was clean.” No fraud was found by the CEELA observers who had participated in all pre-election audits which was in collaboration with Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE) who had announced the winner of the election results which went to Maduro with 67 percent of the vote. Although the turnout was low at 46 percent we can blame the main opposition parties of the ultra-right wing called the ‘Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) coalition’ who boycotted the elections. In a press conference, CEELA President Nicanor Moscoso said that “Technically, up until today, we have not observed any element that could disqualify the electoral process” the report said.
However, before we get into Trump’s human rights concerns for the Venezuelan people, let’s remember that Trump made one of his very first trips as President of the United States to one of the worst dictatorships on the planet who is also a close ally and that is Saudi Arabia, but they supply the oil, they help fund terrorists and buy billions of dollars worth of weapons from U.S. weapons manufacturers, so they technically get a free pass.
So let’s ask ourselves this question, does the U.S. really care about the Venezuelan people more that they care about, let’s say the Yemeni people, the Libyans, the Afghani’s and every other nation they invade or bomb back to the stone age where innocent people are routinely killed or maimed for life? Did the U.S. bring democracy to the people I just mentioned? I don’t think so.
297 Billion Reasons Why Washington Wants Regime Change
Although Venezuela’s military has “declared loyalty to President Nicolás Maduro on Thursday and said the opposition’s effort to replace him with a transitional government amounted to an attempted coup” according to a New York Times report. “The pronouncement by the defense minister, Vladimir Padrino López, came a day after an opposition lawmaker proclaimed himself the country’s rightful leader during nationwide protests and pleaded with the armed forces to abandon Mr. Maduro.” Trump added fuel to the fire when he said “all options are on the table” while Florida Senator Marco Rubio called on U.S. ambassadors to remain in Venezuela. In Caracas, Maduro said “he would give U.S. diplomatic personnel 72 hours to leave Venezuela, which is suffering from a hyperinflationary economic collapse” according to CNBC, but later Maduro reversed his decision to allow the U.S. 30 days to create a “U.S. Interests Office” as an “act of true diplomacy.” NBC reported that “Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., said on Thursday that the Trump administration is prepared to retaliate should U.S. embassy personnel in Venezuela be placed in harm’s way.” Rubio told Andrea Mitchell of NBC that “If any harm should come to these diplomats from the United States, I want everybody to know that the consequences from this administration, that they’ll impose, will be swift and they’ll be decisive.” Washington will use any incident that harms or even kills U.S. diplomats in Venezuela as an excuse for military action.
Tensions between Washington and the Maduro government has nothing to do with democracy and everything to do with oil, 297 billion barrels worth of oil. Trump wants to take Venezuela’s oil, make no mistake about that. During an interview with Kelly Evans of the Wall Street Journal back in 2011 Trump was asked “So you would keep troops in Iraq after this year?” “I would take the oil,” Trump said. Evans than asked “I don’t understand how you would take — does that mean keeping troops there, or staying involved in Iraq?” “You heard me, I would take the oil” Trump continued “I would not leave Iraq and let Iran take the oil.” Washington wants Venezuela’s oil for its big oil companies and to feed the U.S. military machine with oil for its next big war which could possibly be with Syria once again or Iran and for those reasons, they want absolute control over the world’s oil reserves. So when an oil rich country does not comply with Washington, all options are on the table including military action, Trump made it clear to the public on a number of occasions. A U.S. lead war on Venezuela will create a severe political crisis for all of Latin America and it will also have a negative effect on oil by driving up prices hurting consumers especially within the United States and around the world. Washington’s years of meddling in Venezuela with attempted coups, sanctions and now Trump and the deep state appointing a new President in Venezuela led to the political chaos. Venezuela might have to pay a heavy price if the right-wing political elite return to power with full U.S. backing including the fact that the U.S. Military will be seeking new bases throughout Venezuela making it a permanent outpost for protecting what would be called “America’s oil.” Will Washington eventually send in troops if the opposition fails to overthrow Maduro? Or will Trump order air strikes targeting Caracas in hopes of killing Maduro and other high level officials? Either outcome would turn Venezuela into another Iraq, Syria or Libya prompting a resistance by the people of Venezuela through guerrilla warfare who support Maduro and will reject U.S. imperialism at all costs. Will the U.S. wage another reckless war in Venezuela and turn it into another Syria? It’s too early to tell, but these are very dangerous times in America’s own backyard.
It isn’t just oil … it is the vile concept of American exceptionalism that drives this situation. Americans have always enjoyed war at someone
elses expense. Americans see war in the same way that they see any competition … as a means of proving their dominance. It has been the
case since Jamestown and Plymouth … and it isn’t going to change.
As a person born in the United States I deplore what we are doing to the rest of the world. Trump and his neocons are not a change for the worse, but rather a return to the long term status quo. The major difference may be that now we use proxies rather than our own people.
One way to see how corrupt the American government presently is is by observing who its president is – a completely corrupt, vengeful, lying narsisistic psychopath who has absolutely no compassion for anybody but himself. I agree strongly with rg’s comment regarding American ‘exceptionalism’. I also think that America is exceptional, but in a different way. America, as it presently is, is exceptionally corrupt, violent, and facist.
